Answers to Your Common Questions

How long have you been in business?

After 20+ years in the industry the owners of SHCS branched out on their own and formally opened SHCS in 2012.

We currently cover all areas in San Diego County.

Home Care encompasses services such as transportation, medication assistance, Activities of Daily Living, companionship, light housekeeping, errands and social activity engagement. Just give us a call and ask!

Medical assistance can involve tasks that are invasive, while non-medical assistance is non-invasive. The easiest way to define non-medical assistance is to exclude activities which go into the body such as: inserting suppositories, giving injections, deep wound treatments, insertion of catheters, etc. While we can assist the client in their self-management of various tasks – just ask us, and we can outline our approved role for every  task.

Transportation can be provided in either the client’s car or the caregiver’s car. Whichever is more comfortable to the client. We check all of our employees drivers license, registrations, automobile insurance, and driving background to ensure that they are able to provide safe transportation.

We are licensed, bonded, and insured for your protection. In addition, all of our Caregivers have been fingerprinted, cleared criminal background checks and are registered with the California Department of Social Services.

No. Although Physicians do and will order a service, such as ours. It is not required at all.

Long Term Care (LTC) insurance typically covers our services. We can help you review your LTC policy when we start services as each plan is different.

Of course. Upon the first visit with our company, a comprehensive assessment will be completed where the client’s history, current needs, home details, and personal preferences are collected. This will not only help us in placing a Superior caregiver with the specific skills that the clients requires, but also assists us in finding an individual who the client will be comfortable with.

The contract that we have is purely an agreement of services. The contract is non-binding and you are not obligated to receive services for any amount of time. We are here to simply serve you for the time period that you need us. We do requests a two-week notice to end services (if possible). We require a 24-hours notice to cancel a shift, except in the event of an emergency.
